Qasar al Sarab

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain

Yesterday we arrived at Qasr al Sarab ("Mirage Palace" when translated from Arabic into English.) The place is literally in the middle of the Al Liwa desert (part of Abu Dhabi), 300 kilometers from Dubai. It was built around the desert retreat of the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi but now is used as a luxury desert retreat. And if you have ever thought you have felt heat, you have not! Yesterday at 7pm it was 110 degrees and I was told that from June to August it can get well past 125 degrees. Ouch! or better yet Scorch! That being said, the place is beautiful! It is a place to purely relax and enjoy some of the natural beauty God has given to us. At night the stars amid the darkness is breathtaking and not a sound can be heard. Today, I will take a sunset  camel ride (I will brave the heat for this once in a lifetime experience!
