The Dubai Mall

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
― Ernest Hemingway

If you want to have a good idea of life in a foreign country and see a cross section of that country's society in one place, go to the local marketplace or the mall. So we went to the Dubai Mall, the world's biggest!!

Waiting for a performance in the mall
The Burj al Khalifa as seen from the Dubai Mall
Dubai is full of interesting, cutting edge architecture

A bridge over a canal connecting two parts of the mall
Relaxing after a day at the mall

The local Emirati during a busy weekday(their weekend is Friday and Saturday)
Dubai is the most liberal and relaxed of the Emirates if not the whole Arab world; however, one must respect the culture and religion of Dubai. Women must not wear short skirts or shorts or show bear shoulders in public. You must not be affectionate with your wife or girlfriend in public either!
